01.Add a custom MCP server
In ChatGPT open Plugins, press + and choose Add custom MCP server. On a workspace that still shows Apps & Connectors, switch on Developer mode under Advanced settings first, then choose Create.
ChatGPT app Claude connector MCP server
One address connects your AdStar account to the assistant you already use. Point it at a product page, agree to the quote, and get a finished video ad in minutes, without opening the site.
https://www.adstar.ai/mcp
In ChatGPT open Plugins, press + and choose Add custom MCP server. On a workspace that still shows Apps & Connectors, switch on Developer mode under Advanced settings first, then choose Create.
Name it AdStar, describe it as Video ads for my products, and enter the server address under Connection. Authentication is OAuth. Accept the notice and create it.
https://www.adstar.ai/mcp
ChatGPT opens AdStar's sign-in page: sign in with Google or Microsoft and click Allow. In a new conversation type @AdStar and ask. The AdStar card shows the ad being made right in the chat.
@AdStar import https://yourstore.com/night-serum and make a 9:16 UGC ad in English. Quote it first.
A listing in the ChatGPT plugin directory is being prepared. Until it is published, adding the server by address is the way in, and the address will not change.
In Claude go to Settings → Connectors and click Add custom connector. On Team and Enterprise an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors, and members click Connect.
Enter AdStar as the name and the address below as the remote MCP server URL. Keep the detected settings and click Add.
https://www.adstar.ai/mcp
Click Connect: AdStar's sign-in page opens. Sign in with Google or Microsoft and click Allow. Then ask Claude for an ad. The first calls ask for your approval, and the AdStar card follows the ad in the chat.
Use AdStar: import https://yourstore.com/night-serum and make a 9:16 UGC ad in English. Quote it first.
Claude keeps a connector's tool list from the day you add it. When AdStar adds tools, open the connector in Settings → Connectors and choose Refresh tools list.
Run this once. --scope user keeps AdStar available in every project; leave it out to add it to the current project only.
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user adstar https://www.adstar.ai/mcp
Start claude, type /mcp, pick adstar and choose Authenticate. The browser opens AdStar's sign-in page; sign in with Google or Microsoft and click Allow.
/mcp
Claude Code shows no cards, so it waits for the ad on your behalf and gives you the links when the video is done. Everything it makes is in your AdStar account too.
Use AdStar: import https://yourstore.com/night-serum and make a 9:16 UGC ad in English. Quote it first and wait for it to finish.
One command writes the entry to ~/.codex/config.toml. If you prefer to edit the file yourself, the entry is the second block.
codex mcp add adstar --url https://www.adstar.ai/mcp
Or in config.toml
[mcp_servers.adstar]
url = "https://www.adstar.ai/mcp"
The browser opens AdStar's sign-in page; sign in with Google or Microsoft and click Allow. codex mcp list then shows adstar as signed in.
codex mcp login adstar
Start codex and ask. Codex waits for the ad on your behalf and reports the links when the video is done.
Use AdStar: import https://yourstore.com/night-serum and make a 9:16 UGC ad in English. Quote it first and wait for it to finish.
Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP → New MCP Server opens mcp.json. Or let Cursor add the entry for you with the button below.
Paste this into mcp.json and save. No key, no headers: the address is the whole configuration.
{
"mcpServers": {
"adstar": {
"url": "https://www.adstar.ai/mcp"
}
}
}
Click Needs login next to adstar and approve in the browser: sign in with Google or Microsoft and click Allow. Then ask the Agent for an ad.
With AdStar, list my products and quote a 9:16 promo ad in English for the first one.
The sign-in accepts callbacks on https and localhost addresses, which is how current Cursor builds sign in. An old build that still sends a cursor:// callback is refused; update Cursor.
Look for Connectors, Integrations, MCP servers or Plugins in your client, and choose to add a remote server.
https://www.adstar.ai/mcp
Transport Streamable HTTP, the address above, authentication OAuth. No API key and no headers. In VS Code, this is the whole entry in .vscode/mcp.json:
{
"servers": {
"adstar": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://www.adstar.ai/mcp"
}
}
}
Your client opens AdStar's sign-in page in a browser; sign in with Google or Microsoft and click Allow. The callback has to be an https or localhost address, which is what current clients use.
With AdStar, show my account and list my products.
Building a client? The server follows the 2026-07-28 revision of the protocol: stateless streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic registration, discovery at /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp. Clients on the 2025-11-25 revision are served too.
No API keys. You sign in on adstar.ai with the Google or Microsoft account you already use, and you can disconnect at any time from Settings → Account → Connected apps.
The assistant drives the same pipeline the website uses. You stay in the chat; AdStar does the production.
Paste a product page and AdStar reads the name, description, benefits and photos, with the brand from the site. No page? Describe the product and add photos from the chat.
Before anything is spent, the assistant quotes the ad and tells you the price and your balance. Nothing starts until you say yes.
Script, scenes, voiceover, music, captions and the branded end card, assembled into a complete video. In ChatGPT and Claude an AdStar card shows the progress and plays the result.
Every ad lands in your account. Open the editor to change a scene, resize, translate or swap the end card, exactly as with ads made on the site.
Import yourstore.com/products/night-serum and make a 9:16 UGC ad in English.
import_product · quote_ad
Night Serum is in, with 4 photos. A 9:16 UGC ad costs 300 credits; you have 1,750. Shall I start it?
Yes, go ahead.
create_ad
Started. The card below updates itself; it takes a few minutes.
Talk to AdStar the way you talk to your assistant. Every ad type, format and language from the site is one sentence away.
Import https://yourstore.com/night-serum and make a 9:16 UGC ad in English.
One message runs the whole path: the product is read from its page, the quote comes back with the price and your balance, and the ad starts once you agree.
Make the same ad in French, 16:9, for YouTube.
Promo, UGC and Service ads in 9:16, 16:9, 1:1 and 4:5, in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Hebrew. Each one is quoted on its own.
Create a product called Trail Mug, a steel camping mug that keeps coffee hot for six hours, and add these three photos.
No product page needed. Describe it, then add photos from web addresses or pick files from your device on the upload card.
Which recipes make lifestyle product photos? Quote the best one for my serum.
Recipes turn a product's photos and text into images and short videos. Browse them, see what a run costs with your inputs, and run one.
How many credits do I have, and what would a promo ad cost me?
Plan, balance and prices without opening the site. Reading never costs anything.
Show me my last ad.
Where the chat renders cards, the ad opens as a player with Open in AdStar and Edit. Elsewhere you get the links.
Twenty-five tools over the same services the website uses. The assistant picks them; this is what it has to work with.
Who is signed in and what they can spend.
What the ads are about.
Whole video ads, start to finish.
Images and short videos from a product's photos and text.
spends credits charged only after a quote, under a cap you set card renders a live card in ChatGPT and Claude everything else is free to call
An ad costs real money, so the server, not the model, enforces what may be spent and when.
Ads made from a chat land in your AdStar account next to the ones made on the site, and cost the same. Reading, importing and quoting are free.
The assistant must quote first and tell you the price and your balance. The call that starts an ad carries a spending cap at the quoted price and a one-time key: a retry returns the same ad instead of starting another, and a price above the cap is refused with nothing charged.
If an ad fails, its credits come back.
Sign-in is OAuth on adstar.ai: no API key to create or leak, and the assistant never sees your password. Each connected app is listed under Settings → Account → Connected apps; Disconnect cuts it off on its next call.
Text the assistant reads from imported pages is treated as content, never as instructions.
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use outside tools. AdStar runs an MCP server at https://www.adstar.ai/mcp. Add that address to ChatGPT, Claude or any other MCP client and the assistant can import your products, quote and start ads, and follow them to the finished video, all on your AdStar account.
No. You add one address and sign in on adstar.ai with the Google or Microsoft account you already use. The assistant receives a token for your account, never your password, and you can revoke it at any time from Settings → Account → Connected apps.
Any account can connect and browse for free. Making an ad takes credits, as on the site: 250 for a Promo or Service ad, 300 for UGC. The 7-day trial comes with 250 credits, enough for a first ad; after that a subscription or a credit pack covers the rest, managed on the site under Settings → Plan.
Any client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in: ChatGPT, Claude on the web, desktop and mobile, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and others. Claude's free plan allows one custom connector; whether ChatGPT lets you add a custom server depends on your plan and workspace policy. The sign-in itself is the same everywhere.
Several minutes, usually under ten. In ChatGPT and Claude an AdStar card appears in the chat and updates itself until the video is ready. Text-only clients such as Claude Code or Codex wait on your behalf and report the links. You can close the chat: the ad lands in your AdStar account either way.
The rules are built into the server, not left to the model. An ad must be quoted first, and the assistant is told to show you the price and ask. The call that starts an ad carries a spending cap at the quoted price and a one-time key, so a retry returns the same ad instead of starting another, and a price above the cap is refused with nothing charged. Most clients also ask you before running a tool that is not read-only.
Yes. In ChatGPT and Claude the assistant can open an upload card where you pick or drop files, and they go straight onto the product. Any client can add photos from web addresses, and a script can PUT a file to a signed address the server hands out.
In Claude, open the connector under Settings → Connectors and choose Refresh tools list: Claude keeps the list from the day you added the connector. In Claude Code and Codex, start a new session after adding the server. In ChatGPT, open the plugin and choose Refresh. If several MCP servers are connected, say "with AdStar" in your prompt so the request goes to the right one.
On the site, open Settings → Account → Connected apps and click Disconnect. The app loses access on its next call. Then remove the connector in the client as well, so it stops asking you to sign in again.
Not yet. A listing in the ChatGPT plugin directory is being prepared, and Anthropic's connector directory does not list AI media generators as its policy stands. The custom connector route on this page works everywhere today, and the address will not change.
Write to support@adstar.ai. For a problem with a connection, say which client you use and roughly when it happened; every sign-in is logged on our side, so that is enough to find it.
One address, every assistant
Copy the address, add it where you work, sign in once. The first quote is a sentence away.
